the Burgundian
The history of Burgundy
The Burgundy family is one of the oldest and most traditional grape varieties in Europe. It has its origins in France, where it was already cultivated around the Burgundy region in the Middle Ages. From there, the various Burgundy varieties - above all Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris - also reached the Moselle and have shaped the image of the Upper Moselle ever since.
The barren shell limestone soils of our vineyards provide ideal conditions for Burgundy: The chalky terraces give them their fine minerality, while the cool climate ensures freshness and elegance. This results in wines that have been appreciated for centuries for their complexity, structure and subtle elegance.
