the Elbling
Character with history
Elbling is one of the oldest grape varieties in Europe and has been firmly associated with the Upper Moselle for centuries. Its typical characteristics: a lively acidity, a low alcohol content and a clear, straightforward style. These characteristics make it the ideal accompaniment to food - light, refreshing and uncomplicated.
Whether with light dishes such as salads, fish or asparagus or simply on its own on the terrace: Elbling impresses with its versatility. At the Apel winery, the traditional grape is interpreted in a modern way - as a purist, dry white wine with a pronounced minerality and fine fruit.
Shell limestone
Fossil diversity.
Mineral elegance.
The shell limestone soil around Nittel was formed over 200 million years ago, when the region was still covered by a tropical primeval sea. What remained was a solid foundation of limestone, interspersed with fossilized marine fossils - a soil that shapes the character of the wines today.
This special subsoil gives the wines a distinctive minerality and an almost salty aftertaste. At the same time, it promotes a fine, lively acidity structure and brings out the clear fruit of the grape varieties - as with Elbling. A true terroir experience that can only be found here on the Upper Moselle.
Elbling Classic
Elegant, delicate and charming.
The Elbling Classic is the modern interpretation of an ancient grape variety. Grown on sparse shell limestone soil around Nittel, this wine presents itself with clear fruit, delicate acidity and fine minerality. With a moderate alcohol content, it is the perfect companion for summer and light meals - fresh, delicate and wonderfully uncomplicated.
Whether as an aperitif or with light dishes such as asparagus, fish, pasta or salads: This wine brings freshness to the glass.
Elbling BONE DRy
Clear, dry. Unmistakable.
The Elbling Bone Dry combines the heritage of the grape variety with a special style. With its clear, tart and fresh style, it is perfect as an accompaniment to light dishes or simply to enjoy on warm days. This wine is particularly popular in the north, as it wonderfully reflects the typical freshness and characteristics of the Elbling grape. A real thirst quencher with character!
Elbling sparkling wine brut
Fine bubbles. Mineral. Full of character.
The Elbling sparkling wine extra brut is a real highlight for lovers of fine sparkling wines. Produced using the classic method of bottle fermentation and aged on the lees for 36 months, it impresses with its freshness, elegance and mineral depth. The Extra Brut impresses with its even drier style and salty precision.
As a brut or extra brut, a real aperitif - or the perfect accompaniment to seafood, salmon or special occasions.
