Nittel: Our Home on the Upper Moselle
Nittel is located right on the border with Luxembourg and is the heart of a region known for its wines of exceptional quality.
In the border triangle between Germany, France, and Luxembourg, you’ll find a landscape that invites you to explore. Whether you’re hiking the famous Nittel Rock Trail, exploring the Wine Trail, or taking a leisurely stroll along the Moselle—the unique charm of our wine region accompanies you every step of the way.
As a state-recognized resort town, Nittel offers everything you need for an unforgettable vacation or a day trip to the Upper Moselle. For more information about the town, visit www.nittel-mosel.de.
A stop at the Apel Wine Bar
After a hike or an outing in the surrounding area, our wine tavern in Nittel is the perfect place to stop for a break. We’ll treat you to a varied selection of regional dishes for lunch and dinner, along with our own wines, of course. Enjoy hospitality at its finest—right at the winery.
Three-country corner
Nittel is idyllically situated on the Moselle in the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg. From our beautiful wine village you can reach historic towns and wonderful cultural monuments in no time at all.
For example, you can explore the old town of Luxembourg, which is only 20 minutes away, or Malbrouck Castle, which is located directly in the border triangle. Trier, the oldest city in Germany, is about 25 minutes away. Here you can visit many Roman buildings, such as the Porta Nigra, the amphitheater or the Imperial Baths.
On the Saar in Rhineland-Palatinate, you will find the beautifully situated Klause near Kastel-Staadt and the idyllic Saarburg with its castle ruins and large waterfall in the middle of the town.
The world-famous Saar Loop is located near Mettlach in neighboring Saarland.
Activities
The Moselsteig Trail was officially opened on April 12, 2014. The long-distance hiking trail follows the entire course of the Moselle from France to Koblenz for 365 kilometers. The Moselsteig Trail is divided into 24 stages and has been awarded the seal of the German hiking association "Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland" as well as the European hiking seal "Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe". From Nittel, you have the opportunity to hike several stages up and down the Moselle.
Wine hut in the Leiterchen
The "Weinhütte im Leiterchen" is a joint project between us and the Matthias Dostert winery. From March 1st, there will be a wine vending machine in the middle of the Nitteler Leiterchen, offering a nice selection of wine and sparkling wine at the perfect temperature 24/7. We offer cozy seating in the middle of the vineyards and also a few snacks for the small appetite. It will be a place for socializing and enjoying wine, a place to relax and rest for hikers, walkers, wine and nature lovers.
The view towards the border triangle is magnificent, perhaps even the most beautiful in the region!
