in the vineyard
Shell limestone! The heat storage capacity of the rock and the sun-reflecting Moselle characterize the climate. With a slope inclination of up to 35% and a south-southwest orientation, we offer our vines the very best conditions for optimal development. It is our own conviction that we do not use herbicides, boticides and insecticides. We further increase the vitality of our vineyards by sowing various herbs, flowers and grasses. With this combination, we strengthen the natural plant power of the vines and can harvest grapes of the very best quality year after year.
Preserving tradition, shaping the future
Our family has been involved in viticulture since 1477 and has lived in Nittel for just as long. While the great-grandfather was still mainly a wine merchant, Hubertus Matthias and his wife Elfriede drove the wine production forward.
This development work was continued in 1988 by his sons Harald and Hubert, who worked together for over 30 years to turn the business into one of the most modern wineries on the Moselle.
In 2016, the fourth generation of brothers Philip, Johannes and Matthias followed their father Harald into the family business. A family business through and through!

Our wine restaurant is still open until 30.11.2025. After that, our wine restaurant team will take a winter break. We are gathering strength and creative ideas for the 2026 season. We look forward to seeing you again in spring 2026!

our wine bar reopens on Friday 20.03.2026. From then on, the following opening hours apply to our wine restaurant:
Tuesday - Sunday from 12:00 - 23:00
Hot meals until 21:00
Our modern wine bar and an outstanding 2024/25 vintage as well as typical Moselle delicacies from the winegrower's kitchen await you. Come by and start the 2026 season with us.

WINE MESSAGE (08.08.2026)
From this year onwards, the WeinBootschaft will take place every two years, i.e. after a fantastic evening in summer 2024, the next edition will follow in summer 2026.
The WeinBootschaft is an open wine tasting on deck of the Princesse Marie-Astrid. The WeinBOOTschaft sails along the Luxembourg border to the border triangle (Germany - Luxembourg - France) near Schengen.
Many of the region's winegrowers present their wines in a unique setting in the middle of the Moselle. We change our perspective and see the beauty of the region from a different angle.
Look forward to a very special boat trip!
The Elblingfreunde der südlichen Weinmosel e. V. invite you and offer great live music on board and a few delicacies from the ship's kitchen after the wine tasting.

ST. ROCHUS WINE FAIR (21.08. - 24.08.2026)
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and linger at the wine fair in Nittel. Many winegrowers open their courtyards and offer all sorts of treats for body and soul.

SAARRIESLING SUMMER (2026)
At the end of August 2026, 15 locations along the Saar will open their doors and cellars. Enjoy special wines in a relaxed atmosphere, in beautiful locations and experience what makes this wine region so special. Exciting guest winemakers from other wine-growing regions in Germany and abroad will welcome you at each stop. A shuttle service will take you from station to station.
You will find us at the Bocksteinhof winery in Ockfen an der Saar.
