Burgundy wine from Nittel: Elegance from shell limestone

While Elbling is our tradition, Burgundy varieties are our passion for finesse. Here in Nittel on the Upper Moselle, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir find conditions on the mineral-rich shell limestone soils that are unmatched anywhere else in the world. At the Apel Winery, we bring out the individual character of each vine—for Burgundy wines with structure, smoothness, and an unmistakable origin.

The Burgundian

Pinot Blanc & Pinot Gris: Power meets freshness

Our white Burgundy wines represent perfect balance. The Nitteler Pinot Blanc captivates with its delicate pear fruit and elegant acidity, making it the ideal accompaniment to food.

Those who prefer something a little more powerful will find a partner in Pinot Gris, with its body and aromas of nuts and ripe yellow fruits. Thanks to aging on shell limestone, both varieties retain a lively minerality that never makes them seem heavy.

Pinot Noir & Rosé: The red side of the Upper Moselle

The red grape varieties also thrive in our vineyards. Our Pinot Noir is sometimes a delicately fruity, elegant red wine, sometimes a lively rosé for warm summer days.

We focus on reducing yields and meticulous craftsmanship in the cellar to bring out the velvety texture and typical berry aromas of the Burgundy family to their fullest.
